How to get your Opus API key for RaidCut
RaidCut uses your own Opus.pro API key to upload source recordings and pull back the clips Opus generates. You find or request the key in your Opus account, paste it into RaidCut's Settings, and RaidCut stores it locally and securely. API access is part of Opus's higher/limited tiers, so you may need to request it.
Why RaidCut needs an Opus API key
RaidCut automates the OpusClip workflow on your desktop: it uploads your gameplay recordings to Opus, tracks processing, and retrieves the generated clips for review and scheduling. To do that on your behalf it authenticates with your Opus account using an API key. Without a key, RaidCut can manage your local files but can't talk to Opus.
Where to find or request your key in Opus
- Sign in to your Opus account at opus.pro.
- Open your account or workspace settings and look for an API or Developer section.
- If a key already exists, copy it. If not, use the option to create/generate an API key.
- If you don't see API access at all, request it from Opus — see the beta note below.
Beta / limited availability note
Opus API access is not available on every plan and has been rolled out gradually. If you can't find an API section, you may need to be on a qualifying tier or to ask Opus support to enable API access for your account. This is an Opus-side setting, not something RaidCut controls.
Paste the key into RaidCut
- Open RaidCut and go to Settings.
- Paste the key into the Opus API key field.
- If your account uses an organization or workspace ID, set that too so uploads target the right workspace.
- Save. RaidCut will use the key for uploads and status checks.
How RaidCut stores and uses your key
Your key is stored locally on your machine as a secret and is used only to authenticate requests to Opus. RaidCut does not publish it or send it anywhere other than Opus's own API.
Security warning
Treat your Opus API key like a password. Don't paste it into screenshots, support tickets, Discord, or shared documents. If you ever expose it, regenerate the key in Opus and update it in RaidCut's Settings — regenerating immediately invalidates the old one.
Troubleshooting
- Invalid key: re-copy the full value with no leading/trailing spaces; confirm it wasn't regenerated or revoked in Opus.
- Org / workspace ID: if your account spans an organization, make sure the org/workspace ID in RaidCut matches the key.
- Multiple organizations: a key issued for one workspace won't work against another — use the key and ID for the same workspace.
- Upload fails with a valid key: check your Opus credits/plan and whether the target workspace is correct.
- Rate or credit limits: Opus may temporarily reject requests when you hit a rate limit or run out of credits; wait and retry, or top up credits in Opus.
Once your key works, head back to the app to start processing. New to the workflow? Read how RaidCut uses performance data.
